I am concidering vending at the new fair south of houston next year....Ive never vended at a fair before but have been working up to it for years. Im just iffy on their attendance projections, it runs the same time as several other texas fairs, but im thinking that due to its location it would be the better choice ... Excaliber this past year was mainly just a gathering of die hard rennies, and as much as i love my rennie family, they dont spend money.... many of the vendors i spoke to there were not planning on returning next year due to the low turn out mainly due to the hard to find, middle of nowhere location and no adverttising. Any fair i vend at gets me as a free advertisement for the san antonio area, i have contacts that cand distribute fliers at most college campusus in San Antonio, as well as media contacts, and i can post and help arrange presale ticket sales through the hancock fabric stores.... I make a variety of things, as do some friends and family who would contibute to a booth, i have vollenteer employees... i have my tax id... im working on building up my stock of merchandise, which is challenging with little to no help acctualy making things.... i have family that are experienced carpenders to help me design and build a shop, even though the first year i would probably have to use my tent until we could get the shop designed and built.... any advice?
